The Old Drogheda Society have a very busy schedule of events lined up between now and Christmas.
Staring with a Lecture on Wednesday November 13th at 8pm in the Governor's House Millmount, when well known local historian, Brendan Matthews, will give a talk on ‘Kate the Navvy’ & the Street Characters of Drogheda.

From Tuesday November 19th the first stage of the Archaeological Remote Sensing of the mound at Millmount starts with the work being carried out by LGS Ltd, who specialise in geophysical research, in association with Dr Conor Brady from DKIT. The first stage of the work will take five or six days, and there may be parking restrictions in place during part of this period. Alternate parking will be provided nearby.
On Tuesday November 26th the Corcoran Garry Transition Year Local History Quiz for transition year students will be taking place in Barbican Centre, William Street at 2pm, with six local schools participating.
On Thursday November 28th in the Tower, Millmount at 7.30pm the Society will celebrate the granting of full Accreditation Status to Drogheda Museum Millmount by the Irish Heritage Council. The Museum is the first voluntary run one to achieve this honour.
On Sunday December 1st in the Boyne Valley Hotel, the President’s Christmas Lunch takes place at 1pm. Guest speaker will be Adrian Oughton, head master of Wilson’s Hospital School in Westmeath and former League of Ireland referee.

On Wednesday December 4th in association with the Meath Archaeological and Historical Society, Dr Brendan Smith will speak on ‘Medieval Drogheda’. Venue: the Governor’s House, Millmount at 8pm.
On Wednesday December 11th the Old Drogheda Society Journal, No. 20 will be launched in the Governor’s House, Millmount at 8pm
The Family History from the Sea Mariners exhibition continues in the Governor's House, Millmount from 10am - 5pm every day except Wednesdays and Sundays until November 30th. David Snook of Irish Mariners.ie will attend on each Friday from 11am until 12 noon to assist with queries on the
exhibition.
