Walk & Talk With Liam Reilly on August 3rd

The 5th in this years series of Old Drogheda Society Walk and Talks, takes place tomorrow evening, Wednesday August 3rd, when Liam Reilly will lead the walk in the Sunday's Gate/Magdalene Street area starting at 7.30 pm from outside of Scholars Hotel (Parking in King Street Council Car Park).

Liam who grew up in this area will give a lighthearted insight into the history of the area and speak on a number of items including:


The arrival of the Christian Brothers
Scholars Hotel & John Philip Holland
The Detective who won the Scott Gold Medal for bravery in 1943 Dinny Reddan's Pub,
The myth of how Scarlet Street got it's name
The Slate Row
Famous Pupils of CBS
Sunday's Gate
Paddy Connor's Hill
Dolans & Moores Pubs
The Cow in the Sweet Shop
The Mags footballer who lifted the All Ireland Minor Cup
Why there were bars on the windows of the houses
The Moores Earls of Drogheda & Moores Lane

The Rope Walk

Liam did part of this as the very first Walk & Talk last year, but a number of people who missed it requested he do it again. He has added a lot of new material for what should be an interesting evening. 

Meet at the front of Scholars Hotel at 7.25 pm, ( Park in the pubic car park opposite the VEC).
