Reminder - Today - Traditional Day in Millmount

This year's Traditional Day in Millmount which takes place today, Sunday May 3rd, celebrates The Seven Ages of Irish Music in Drogheda - the major role played by Drogheda in the history of Irish Music .... from the ancient mythology of AMHAIRGIN, the inventor of poetry and song who is reputedly buried under Millmount ... to the famous Drogheda Harp Society of the 19th Century ... the Singing Weaver John Shiel .. the Taylor Brothers and the great Drogheda Uilleann Pipers .. to Mary Ann Carolan and the other great traditional singers and musicians of the 20th Century.

CONCERTS, SESSIONS, WORKSHOPS, HAVE-A-GO CLASSES AND EXHIBITIONS IN 5 INDOOR AND MARQUEE VENUES THROUGHOUT MILLMOUNT -  FREE ADMISSION TO ALL PERFORMANCES
The Tower Restaurant and Millmount Craft Shops will be open and there will be FREE admission to Drogheda Museum Millmount from 1pm to 5pm (last tours 4pm)
 

Elsafty, Armstrong & Browne in concert at 3pm - Supergroup Róisín Elsafty (sean nós singer), Siobhán Armstrong (Irish Medieval harp) and Ronan Browne (Uilleann Pipes) in concert in the Tower. Free admission but booking is essential. Phone 041-9833097

Young Masters of Irish Music in Concert - Conor McEvoy (fiddle), Fergus McGorman (flute), Ruairi McGorman (bouzouki)

The Pipers Room - On the ground floor of the museum - non stop demonstration of Uilleann Pipe playing, celebrating Drogheda's unique role in the history of the pipes - with Darragh O hÉiligh, Brendan McCreanor, Conal Duffy and Ronan Browne.

Kevin Glackin - fiddle maestro in concert ... with some surprise guests...

Irish Song From Gaelic To Come-All-Ye .. Celebrating the memory of the great Drogheda songmaker John Sheil .. with Roisin Elsafty (Gaelic - sean nós), Brian Mullen (Derry) and Sean Corcoran (Drogheda)

Uisneach in concert - Breifne Holohan (guitars) and Trudy Maguire (piano accordion and vocals) - guitar ace and composer Holahan and Maguire’s extraordinary voice and arresting accompaniment weave spells.

Sirmione in concert - Brendan McCreanor (pipes and vocals) and Deirdre Granville (harp and vocals) - something unique and new - -masters of two ancient instruments mixed with haunting audio effects and electronics

Have-A-Go Class In Tin Whistle with Liz King  -  for just €2 get a 30 minute start up class in tin whistle basics and get a top-class tin whistle to take home with you!!
 



No Parking in the Millmount Complex, parking is available in the St Mary's Parish Car Park on Old Hill.
