Today a free play, The Final Days of Oliver Plunkett will be performed at 3 pm, today. It was written by Duleek based Michael Ferguson, and it will renew the atmosphere of 17th century Drogheda and London recreated by actors from the Duleek Drama Players, Aisteoiri na Boinne and St Brigid’s Drama Group. .
The Final Days of Oliver Plunkett is a very much a community production involving local drama groups with seventeenth century props, period costumes and equipment supplied by Millmount Museum.
It is a great chance for visitors and locals alike, to learn more about the trial and excecution of St Oliver Plunkett, whose national shrine is in St Peter's Church.
Tomorrow the Annual St Oliver Plunkett Procession will leave the Holy Family Church , Ballsgrove at 2.50 pm sharp and arrive at St Peter's for 4 pm mass. Visitors from Germany, Belgium and the United Kingdom will join with people from all over Ireland in celebrating the life of St Oliver Plunkett.
