This lecture will explore
the foundation and development of medieval Drogheda.
The lecture will include the ideas that underpinned the creation of the Norman
town. It will explore the parts played by the founding Norman magnates, the
medieval forms, spaces and architecture of the settlement, as well as the
concept of Drogheda as a Medieval
Town.
Dr. Pat Dargan is an architect and planner by profession with a special
interest in the heritage aspects of Irish settlements. He has lectured and
published extensively on Irish town and village development at both national
and international level.
