Old Drogheda Society
The Old Drogheda Society John Boyle O'Reilly School 2017 in association with Dundalk Institute of Technology: 'Recent Archaeological Research in the Boyne Valley'. This will take place in Millmount, Drogheda, on Saturday 2nd December. Registration 9.30am - 4 pm Tickets €20 from
this outlet.
This conference is the fourth in the series the first of which took place in 2010 as part of the INSTAR funded Boyne Valley Landscapes Project. Although this project has now ceased, the value of having such an event on a semi-regular basis was recognised. The papers represent a selection of archaeological projects from the academic research, commercial and community sectors and include traditional survey, geophysical survey and excavation and are the most recent investigations of the rich heritage of this important area.
The Old Drogheda Society President's Dinner will take place on Sunday December 10th in the Boyne Valley Hotel. The guest speaker will be Ronan Gormley, Professor in the UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science. A native of the Chord Road, his father was headmaster in the Drogheda Technical School in King Street. Ronan is a keen angler and he recently published a book on his experiences fishing in local waters. Full details of the dinner will be circulated shortly.
