Old Drogheda Society
On Wednesday next August 5th, the 4th in the Old Drogheda
Society's Summer "Walk & Talk" Evenings will take place when Liam
Reilly, supervisor in Drogheda Museum Millmount, will talk on "Dooley
Gate". The walk departs at 7.30pm from Millmount.
Liam will talk on many aspects of the Duleek Gate area
including the shooting of Liam Leech at Pitcher
Hill steps, The Millmount Bar (Sampson's), hideaway of the Fenians, The
Riot in Duleek Gate, Barney Daly, the Old Hill resident shot by Free State
troops on the day of Michael Collins funeral, Larry Walsh, Drogheda's
longest serving Mayor, Barber Callan's Pub, The old streets and lanes off
Duleek Street, St Mary's Church of Ireland, Oliver Cromwell's attack on
the town, The Cairnes Trust Sunday Scool and houses, World War One
Memorial, The characters and the pubs of the area, Joe Shiels baker and
prisoner of war, St Marys Church and the Castle of Comfort.
Because of the limited number of people that can be

There is no set charge for the evening, and all are welcome
but small donations will be accepted for Drogheda Cultural Services.
Parking is available in the Millmount Courtyard.
