Walk leader Frank Gallagher will conduct a alternate town walk starting from the Tourist Office at the Tholsel at 1pm with many interesting tales from Drogheda's past. Frank will be taking walkers down to the quays where we will learn of Drogheda's Industrial and Maritime history and the building of the Boyne Viaduct.

The Battle of Waterloo, fought 200 years ago in June 1815, was a milestone in European history. It ended over twenty years of conflict in Europe and heralded over fifty years of peace and stability. The battle was the culmination of a long campaign, fought in Spain and Portugal, by the Duke of Wellington and his allied armies .... Arthur Wellesley, a native of Summerhill& Trim also ended up as British Prime Minister not once, but twice. Noel French takes us through another chapter of Trim’s rich history. One of our Special Interest walks during the Boyne Valley Walking Festival.

The 1200 Steps Challenge is a 10km challenging walk. Drogheda is one of the hilliest towns in Ireland with 14 sets of steps. Visit the various sets of steps in Drogheda and learn about their history. If the Steps don't leave you breathless, the views will.
