The launch of
the eagerly awaited book Drogheda & The Ottoman
Empire Ships of 1847 by Community Historian, Brendan Matthews will
take place on Wednesday December 3rd at the Governors House Millmount
at 8pm.
The work tackles unravelling the tale of the social conditions in Drogheda during
the Great famine year of 1847 and the `supposed` food-aid delivered to the port
of that town by the Ottoman Empire`.
Brendan has
researched this subject for a number of years and his findings make very
interesting reading.
