Old Drogheda Society
A book of condolence has been opened at Drogheda Tourist Office in the Tholsel, West Street by the mayor of Drogheda, Cllr Oliver Tully, for the late TK Whitaker, patron of the Old Drogheda Society, who died last week at the age of 100.
The deceased was brought up in Drogheda and attended St Joseph's CBS primary and secondary schools and was always proud of his Drogheda roots. He attended many functions and events organised by the Old Drogheda Society over the years.
The former senator received many national and international honours and tributes for his achievements during his lifetime, most notably the conferral of “Irishman of the 20th Century” in 2001 and Greatest Living Irish Person in 2002.
Members of the public are invited to sign the book during the Tourist office's opening hours 9.30 am - 5.30 pm Monday to Friday.
