Old Drogheda Society
The second of this year's Old Drogheda Society's Walk and Talk evenings will take place on Wednesday July 13th when Liam Reilly will lead the walk from Bolton Street at 7.30 pm.
The Walk and Talk will deal with the Bolton Street and Fair Street area and Liam will speak on the various historic aspects of the area including:
‣ The Fenians gathering for a rebellion in 1867 in Bolton Square, St Peter's School
‣ The shooting of Alice Slowey in 1922
‣ William " Sack" McQuillan's role in the 1916 Rising and his case against DI Carberry
‣ Scholes Lane where Drogheda's only Olympic medalist trained
‣ The Cornmarket Courthouse and it's weathercock
‣ The Sisters of Charity coming to Drogheda, Mallard Lane and it's overhead bridge
‣The Archbishops of Armagh residing in Fair Street
‣ Patrick Curtis - Spymaster to the Duke of Wellington, later Archbishop of Armagh
‣ The Catholic Action
‣ Harry Allen Builders - winners of the first Tops Of The Town Talent Competition
‣ Clarke's Pub - the birthplace of Nano Reid and other interesting facts.
The Walk and Talk will be finished by 9pm.

There is no fixed fee but small donations will be welcomed.
Please assemble outside St Peter's School at 7.25 pm.
