Walk & Talk: Laurence Gate

Old Drogheda Society

This evening, Wednesday June 29th.

The first of this season's Old Drogheda Society "Walk & Talks" takes place, starting from St Laurence's Gate at 7.30 pm.

Brendan Matthews shall outline the history of Drogheda's only medieval gate that still remains intact.

The gate has been in the news a lot recently and Brendan has uncovered some very interesting facts that were not generally known.

The walk will proceed down Laurence Street with Brendan speaking on the various buildings with particular emphasis on the former Franciscan Church (now the Highlanes Gallery) and the former Methodist Church.

There is no charge but small donations to Drogheda Cultural Services will be welcome.

ODS Outing To Gormanston Castle Tomorrow Evening

Old Drogheda Society

The Old Drogheda Society first evening outing of the year takes place tomorrow evening to Gormanston Castle, former home of the Preston Family.

Brendan Matthews will be taking about the rich history of Gormanston Castle and the Prestons.

Coach leaves Bolton Square at 6.30pm and Millmount at 6.45pm.

The cost is €15 including tea, coffee and sandwiches in Whytes of Stamullen.
